Two new posters for director Yeon Sang-Ho's hotly-anticipated TRAIN TO BUSAN (Buy Here) sequel, PENINSULA, have officially gone full steam ahead online. Both posters tease what's sure to be an action-packed follow-up to the 2016 original, complete with more zombies than the casting call for Michael Jackson's Thriller.
The first poster has the sequel's new cast led by Gang Dong-Won surrounded by the undead on all sides amidst a sea of wrecked cars. Meanwhile, the second print features Dong-Won and co-star Lee Jung-Hyun packed into a ramshackle vehicle and looking to make an escape from the oncoming hordes.
PENINSULA takes place four years after the outbreak of zombies that were chasing protagonists on a train speeding south to Busan. The Korean peninsula is devastated and Jung-seok, a former soldier who has managed to escape overseas, is given a mission to go back and unexpectedly meets up with survivors.
The sequel stars Gang Dong-Won (GOLDEN SLUMBER) as Jung-Seok, Lee Jung-Hyun (ALICE IN EARNESTLAND) as Min-Jung, Lee Re (HOW TO STEAL A DOG) as Joon, Kwon Hae-Hyo (THE CROWDED CLOWN) as Kim Noh, Kim Min-Jae (URBAN COPS), Go Kyo-Hwan, Kim Do-Yoon, and Lee Ye-Won.
When TRAIN TO BUSAN chugged into theaters across Asia, the zombie-infested film took a nasty bite out of box office records in South Korea and eventually became the biggest Korean film of all time. Many who'd seen the film praised it for being a new and intense take on the zombie-horror sub-genre. I can still recall my first viewing of TRAIN TO BUSAN, and how blown away I was by its nail-biting action and deep emotional core. To say that I'm excited for PENINSULA would be a gross understatement – almost as gross as the innards of the undead baking under a hot sun. Yummy!
