Zombie’s C.H.U.D.

So what small news item of the day would baffle the hell out of me? The confirmed word that Rob Zombie will be directing the remake of C.H.U.D. or CANNIBALISTIC HUMANOID UNDERGROUND DWELLERS.

A news item from Billboard.com started the speculation but Johnny Butane from Dread Central got the confirmed word from Rob Zombie himself. If you go over here you can read the official confirmation.

Now why would anyone want to remake C.H.U.D.? It’s a classic and would never stand up today, especially with Rob Zombie behind the camera. It will just be all shaky, like an amateur film student made it on his spare time between psychology and womans history.

If you don’t know what C.H.U.D. is, the film is about: A rash of bizarre murders in New York City seems to point to a group of grotesquely deformed vagrants living in the sewers. A courageous policeman, a photo journalist and his girlfriend, and a nutty bum, who seems to know a lot about the creatures, band together to try and determine what the creatures are and how to stop them.
