Do you guys remember that attempt at a ZOMBIELAND series from Amazon a while back? You know, the one that couldn’t make it past its pilot episode? Well, this has nothing to do with that so don’t go jumping off any cliffs just yet. Deadline is reporting that Sony Pictures wants to get back in on that ZOMBIELAND business as the studio just hired Dave Callaham (THE EXPENDABLES) to write the sequel under the supervision of Ruben Fleischer, who’ll return to direct. That's where the details end, unfortunately.
While I'm pretty happy about Fleischer taking a seat behind the sequel, the big question is whether or not we'll be seeing any of ZOMBIELAND's original cast return. I'm sure Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin are all pretty busy at the moment so it'll be interesting to see if any or all of them can make room for the sequel. If not, do Callaham and Fleischer have new characters in mind? You'll know when we do, folks! We'll have more on this as it comes in.
