If there are two things in this world that I know Woody Harrelson enjoys, it’s killing zombies and eating Twinkies. If it’s evidence you want, you need to look no further than 2009’s Zombieland and its sequel, Zombieland: Double Tap. Harrelson starred as the proficient zombie killer Tallahassee in both films alongside Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin, and according to the man himself, he’s up for a Zombieland 3 (via Comic Book).
Harrelson said as much while speaking with Comicbook.com about the new film Venom: There Will Be Carnage. While talking about his role as Cletus Kasady for the Andy Serkis-directed superhero film, Harrelson mentioned that he’d like to return to the Zombieland franchise at some point.
“Well, I would love that, because that whole group there is about as fun as it gets,” Harrelson told Comicbook.com, during an exclusive interview. “I love working with those guys. I can’t even tell you how much, a lot. So, yeah. From your lips to God’s ears, I hope that happens.”
While Harrelson is ready and willing to brave another zombie apocalypse for a third Zombieland movie, no plans for a sequel exist at this time. That said, it was fan excitement that got the film’s director Ruben Fleischer to helm a sequel. Maybe if we make enough noise online the stars will align for another cross-country tale of survival and shambling celebrity corpses.
Do you want a Zombieland 3 with Woody and the gang? In the meantime, be sure to catch Harrelson when he stars alongside Tom Hardy in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which swings into theaters on October 1, 2021.
