Were you aware that the writers of ZOMBIELAND also wrote DEADPOOL and the upcoming Ryan Reynolds space-horror movie ALIEN: LIFE (sorry, its just LIFE)? Of course you were. You are a movie God. Truthfully, I knew that too… but still it’s an interesting thing to note.
But we are not here to talk about LIFE, or DEADPOOL for that matter. No, we are here because Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (the above mentioned writers aka the real heroes here) recently spoke with ComicBook.com about all things comic books and dot-coms.
But in a cool side note, they spoke about ZOMBIELAND 2 and its chances of hitting the screen anytime soon:
It is [in active development]. We’re trying to get it going. All of our cast have read the script and love it. Ruben [Fleischer] is signed on. It’s just a matter of making our cast deals and making it for a budget number. All the cast have become superstars now so, we made Zombieland with 20 million, so it’s trying to fit that financial model into the sequel model so it makes sense for the studio and being able to pay the actors what they now get paid and deserve to paid.
We see [Sony Pictures chairman] Tom Rothman pretty frequently now and we’re pestering that dude. He’s like, ‘Please, enough with the Zombieland talk!’ We’re pestering him the way we pestered Fox on Deadpool. We’re not letting it go. We really want to see Zombieland 2.
So there you have it. Not only will ZOMBIELAND director Ruben Fleischer be back for more undead shenanigans, but so will the whole cast of the original!
But what about Bill Murry…
I’ll keep you guys up to date on any and all ZOMBIELAND 2 news I hear, but for now go ahead and star at this pic of the original film’s co-star Emma Stone.
