Zero Gravity sets Mukunda Michael Dewil to helm Wet House; will Thomas Jane still be involved?

Back in February we shared the news on an upcoming psychological thriller-horror titled WET HOUSE that, at the time, was set to star and be directed by Thomas Jane from a screenplay by Jack Reher, but today Deadline is reporting that another director has signed on to take the helm of the project.

Fresh off the release of his Paul Walker thriller VEHICLE 19, South African writer/director Mukunda Michael Dewil has signed on to helm WET HOUSE for Zero Gravity Management, according to the article. There is no word on whether or not Jane will still be attached to star.

WET HOUSE is described as an elevated supernatural film based on Dickens' classic ghost story "The Signal-Man" and crossed with elements of HP Lovecraft gothic horror, exploring the fine line between sanity and insanity, and is said to be in the vein of JACOBS LADDER, SE7EN, and THE SIXTH SENSE. The plot is said to revolve around…

a psychologist who becomes entangled with the mysterious resident of a wet house, whose apparent psychic abilities help her aid the police in solving a string of grizzly, bath salt-fueled massacres.

Mark Holder and Christine Holder are producing and financing for Zero Gravity. The film will shoot this fall in South Africa as the first of three features Zero Gravity plans to shoot there.

Dewil says of the script…

“I like the idea that everything is layered with this atmosphere of unnamed trepidation– nothing can be trusted at face value and that kind of foreboding really gives me a lot to work with when creating the world of this story."

We'll keep you posted on news regarding WET HOUSE, including casting (still hoping Jane will star!), as we hear it.
