Zack Snyder says Warner Bros. radio silent after Snyder Cut release

Zack Snyder had a year of redemption this year after the positive reception of both Zack Snyder's Justice League and Army of the Dead. The former was a long time coming and after its launch on HBO Max, it was met with enthusiastic responses from fans and it was reportedly successful for the streamer. You would think some kind of congratulations would be in order from Warner Bros. but Zack Snyder says he has heard nothing from the studio since the film was released.

Zack Snyder discussed the situation during a recent interview with Tyrone Magnus on YouTube. The director was asked if he'd heard anything else from Warner Bros. about the Snyder Cut, specifically any additional opportunities to do more work for them, and not necessarily just continuing his DC universe. Here is what Snyder had to say:

"Well, um…no. I haven't heard from them at all! After I released the movie, I haven't gotten a phone call. It's been radio silence. I don't…the only communication was [Warner Bros. CEO] Ann [Sarnoff]'s article after the movie was released, but that wasn't directly to me, that was to the people. So I don't know. As far as I'm concerned, let's see what happens with Discovery, and that's cool. Who knows? All I know is that as of yesterday, Justice League was #1 in the UK again, so…"

Ann Sarnoff did address the release of the Snyder Cut during a March 2021 interview. She expressed that the studio was "happy" that they had HBO Max as a platform to allow Snyder the opportunity to "complete his vision in a four-hour movie, which is impossible to do in theaters." Despite saying she was happy that the director could complete his vision, she was quick to say there were no plans for Snyder to #RestoreTheSnyderVerse because the studio wanted to focus on the future and expanding the DCEU. At the time Sarnoff said "I appreciate that they love Zack's work and we are very thankful for his many contributions to DC. We're just so happy that he could bring his cut of the Justice League to life because that wasn't in the plan until about a year ago. With that comes the completion of his trilogy. We're very happy we've done this, but we're very excited about the plans we have for all the multi-dimensional DC characters that are being developed right now."

I guess the lack of communication from Warner Bros. shows there is still some kind of tension between the studio and Zack Snyder. The director hasn't been shy about discussing his issues with the studio, particularly when it came to Justice League, and it seems like Warner Bros. just wanted to get the Snyder Cut out to quiet down the fan pressure and appease Zack Snyder on some level. After that, it appears their decision is to merely distance themselves from it.

What are YOUR thoughts on Warner Bros. not contacting Zack Snyder after the release of the Snyder Cut?
