Zack Snyder shares a tease of how they filmed Aquaman’s underwater scenes

Last week JUSTICE LEAGUE director Zack Snyder shared a look of some work-in-progress footage of Jason Momoa as Aquaman in his natural element. It was our first glimpse at just how the underwater sequences in both JUSTICE LEAGUE and AQUAMAN would be handled, and the results were pretty damn cool. One of the questions surrounding the short clip was whether Jason Momoa was a digital double or whether he was able to pull off that move in the flesh.

Zack Snyder took to Vero to post the following photo, which shows off quite a lot of green-screen, but it also reveals that it really was Jason Momoa performing the scene. Snyder commented that "people were wondering whether he was CG or not. He’s not… hair and environment CG, otherwise all Jason."

It seems that the motion of Aquaman effortlessly gliding underwater was realized by strapping Jason Momoa into that rather uncomfortable looking harness and swinging him around like a human steadicam. The things we do for art.
