Zack Snyder's BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE will finally hit theaters next week, and he'll be behind the camera for both of the planned THE JUSTICE LEAGUE flicks, but he's not limiting himself to just making comic book movies though.
Earlier this month, we learned that Snyder wants to do a 300-style George Washington pic, and he recently revealed to THR that he is also developing a feature film adaptation of Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead, telling the site that "I have been working on The Fountainhead. I've always felt like The Fountainhead was such a thesis on the creative process and what it is to create something. Warner Bros. owns [Ayn Rand’s] script and I’ve just been working on that a little bit."
Book synopsis from Amazon:
When The Fountainhead was first published, Ayn Rand's daringly original literary vision and her groundbreaking philosophy, Objectivism, won immediate worldwide interest and acclaim. This instant classic is the story of an intransigent young architect, his violent battle against conventional standards, and his explosive love affair with a beautiful woman who struggles to defeat him.
Rand's novel was previously adapted into the 1949 King Vidor film of the same name that starred Gary Cooper, Patricia Neal and Raymond Massey, however the movie received mostly negative reviews upon its release, and it failed to make back its production budget of $2.5 million. And although Rand wrote the screenplay and her reaction to the big screen take on her book was initially positive, the author later criticized several aspects of the film.
We'll have to wait and see if Snyder is developing the project as a potential directing gig or producing vehicle, but are you interested in seeing what he could do with a movie version of Rand's novel?
