Zach Galifianakis is out and about promoting THE HANGOVER, PART II and one thing has become readily clear in the interviews he’s given: Zach does not suffer fools gladly. Director Todd Phillips recently said Galifianakis has a “hate-hate relationship with his audience.” Even if his audience includes famous people.
January Jones, soon to be seen in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, is apparently a big fan, telling a reporter earlier this year, “Zach Galifianakis is a genius. He’s just extremely quick and genuine, and it’s not forced and he’s not always trying to be funny.” The feeling, as it turns out, is not mutual.
When asked about Jones and his appeal to beautiful women he’d otherwise not be hanging out with, Galifianakis expressed surprised and said, “That’s really funny because, if I remember correctly, she and I were very rude to each other.” Do tell…
“I was at a party — I’d never met her — and she was like, ‘Come sit down.’ So I sit at her table and talk for 10 minutes, and she goes, ‘I think it’s time for you to leave now.’ So I say, ‘January, you are an actress in a show and everybody’s going to forget about you in a few years, so f*cking be nice,’ and I got up and left.”
In my mind, I imagine a slow clap breaking out as Galifianakis strode away or at least that’s me slow-clapping right now.
The photo above is of Jones and Galifianakis at the party in question (the “Oceana’s Partners Award Gala” in 2009) and from the looks of things Jones may have called over Zach, the other famous person at the party, for some cutesy press photos (he already doesn’t look amused). Or it could all be an act and they’re best buds and just fucking with each other in the press (Galifianakis is close friends with “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm). But I like to believe it’s true and he’s not joking, cause, well…you know.
