It looks like David Gordon Green has done a fine job on PINEAPPLE EXPRESS, or at leased enjoyed making it, because Universal has signed him on to direct yet another comedy called YOUR HIGHNESS, starring college classmate Danny McBride. This is odd for Green, who is known for his artistic dramas (ALL THE REAL GIRLS, UNDERTOW) but who recently segued into comedy with EXPRESS. As for McBride, consider his career in high speed after his starring role in the future cult-classic THE FOOT FIST WAY, and supporting roles later this summer in PINEAPPLE EXPRESS and TROPIC THUNDER—which he’s hilarious in.
McBride co-wrote the script with partner Ben Best, about a lazy, arrogant prince who must complete a quest to save his father’s kingdom. Sounds kind of like a medieval BILLY MADISON. The producer, Scott Stuber, said the film will contain dragons and wizards. Well Mr. Green, welcome to the world of CGI. There’s no turning back.
