You’ll wish these NSFW trading cards of The Shining were real

Those of you who are old enough to remember the 80s or 90s will remember when just about any horror movie slated for release got their own line of trading cards. NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, HELLRAISER, GREMLINS, ALIEN, JAWS 2, JASON GOES TO HELL– all of ’em got the cardboard treatment and horror fans (especially kids) bought them in droves. While the novel and collectible nature of these tie-ins make them fun pop cultural oddities, what do you do when you find out one of your favorite 1980s movies never made the cardboard cut? Why, you make your own, of course!

The (NSFW) THE SHINING cards below were designed by the blog Man Is The Warmest Place To Hide and look simply incredible. The quotations beneath the pictures, the “back story” details, the 70s design, the green framing– the designer nails the look and feel of these fictitious tie-in cards down. If I saw a pack of them at a horror convention vendor table, I doubt if I would question their authenticity. My only complaint would be there aren’t enough bad puns. Even the original ALIEN cards were accompanied by terrible joke captions at the bottom. Still, these go for subtlety and I great admire that.

Check them out below and tell us what horror film you wish was commemorated in trading card form?
