You might regret being an Uber devotee this weekend. You see, on Friday July 1st and Saturday July 2nd, Lyft will be teaming with Sony to promote the upcoming GHOSTBUSTERS reboot, introducing a Ghost Mode to the app that will allow customers in New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston and Washington D.C. to get a ride from the Ghostbusters' Ecto-1, either the one used in the film or a replica.
In addition, customers who use the Ghost Mode will have an opportunity to win free tickets to the film's premiere in Los Angeles. It might not be the exact car from the original, but the Ecto-1 is one of the remake's most faithful reinterpretations, so old and new fans alike should hopefully get an equal kick out of it.
In the reboot:
Dead criminals from all eras of New York’s underbelly past have returned to roost among the living in Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot. Pilgrims, old-timey sailors, Revolutionary War spirits, and even a couple of zoot-suited gangsters are ready to take on four formidable female busters looking to rid the city of its phantasmic filth.
GHOSTBUSTERS stars Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Kristen Wiig, along with Chris Hemsworth, Neil Casey, Andy Garcia, Michael K. Williams, Matt Walsh, Pat Kiernan, Cecily Strong, and Charles Dance.
It will feature cameos from the original Ghostbusters as well as Annie Potts, Sigourney Weaver, and Ozzy Osbourne, not to mention Slimer and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
The new film will haunt theaters on July 15th.
