A few months ago, we heard that Frank Grillo (The Purge: Anarchy) had signed on to star in Year 2, a werewolf movie being directed by genre regular Steven C. Miller. Now Deadline reports that Katrina Law of NCIS and Arrow has joined Grillo in the cast of the film, which is heading into production this month.
Scripted by Matthew Kennedy, Year 2 is about
the return of a supermoon which, on its last appearance a year earlier, turned anybody touched by moonlight into a werewolf and led to nearly one billion deaths.
Law is taking on the role of “brilliant geneticist, Dr. Amy Chen, who goes on a dangerous journey with Grillo’s character to saved loved ones, against a ticking clock.”
Described as “The Purge with werewolves”, Year 2 is being produced by Myles Nestel and Craig Chapman.
In addition to NCIS and Arrow, Law has also been seen in NCIS: Hawai’i, Hawaii Five-0, Magnum P.I., The Oath, Sacred Lies, Training Day, Spartacus, The Resistance, Zeroes, Darkness Rising, Mafiosa, and Death Valley. Miller made his feature debut with the zombie movie Automaton Transfusion. Since then, he has directed Scream of the Banshee, The Aggression Scale, Under the Bed, Silent Night, Extraction (the one with Bruce Willis), Submerged, Marauders, Arsenal, First Kill, Escape Plan 2: Hades, and Line of Duty. He recently wrapped up post-production on the “smart house gone rogue” horror thriller Margaux.
I’m admittedly not very familiar with Law’s career, but I watch everything Miller makes, so I’m really excited to see him working on a werewolf movie. Especially since his werewolf movie is going to feature Frank Grillo battling the beasts. Grillo credits also include Prison Break, The Purge: Election Year, The Kill Point, Mother’s Day, My Soul to Take, Warrior, The Grey, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Endgame, Wheelman, Point Blank, Beyond Skyline, Boss Level, and Copshop.
