THE STRANGERS writer-director Bryan Bertino's new nightmare THE DARK & THE WICKED is currently shooting in Texas, and it is all set to hit theaters sometime in the next year or so. And today we have word that the flick has just snatched up its main cast. The ensemble will be lead in the form of Marin Ireland (HELL OR HIGH WATER, HOMELAND), Michael Abbott Jr. (MUD, THE DEATH OF DICK LONG), and Xander Berkeley (TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY, AIR FORCE ONE, CANDYMAN).
Lynne Andrews, Julie Oliver-Touchstone, Tom Nowicki, and Ella Ballentine co-star in the film which follows:
two siblings who are summoned back to the family farm to await the inevitability of their father’s death. What initially appears to be a timeless ritual of loss and remembrance turns out to be something very different.
This new horror flick marks Bertino’s fourth feature following the home invasion horror classic THE STRANGERS with Scott Speedman, Liv Tyler, and Glenn Howerton, the underappreciated found footage fright flick MOCKINGBIRD with Alexandra Lydon, Todd Stashwick, and Audrey Marie Anderson, and the devastating horror-drama THE MONSTER with Zoe Kazan, Ella Ballentine, and Scott Speedman.
Adrienne Biddle (THE BLACKCOAT'S DAUGHTER, HE'S OUT THERE) and Bertino are producing THE DARK & THE WICKED along with Sonny Mallhi (AT THE DEVIL'S DOOR, ANGUISH) and Kevin Matusow (THE QUIET ONES, JOSIE). Executive Producers are Mike Scannell, Carissa Buffel and Steven Chester Prince, John Short and James Short, Brian Dalton, and Milan Chakraborty. The movie is currently shooting in Texas.
