It was inevitable that X-MEN: APOCALYPSE would introduce more young versions of some of our favorite mutants from the X-Men series. In X-MEN: FIRST CLASS we were introduced to the young 1970s Professor X, Magneto, and Mystique played by James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence. Now as we move into the 1980s for Apocalypse we are getting more information as to which roles some actors are being eyed to play, namely a young Jean Grey and a young Cyclops.
The Wrap is reporting that Hailee Steinfeld, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Elle Fanning are the actresses being considered to play young Jean Grey. Ads for Cyclops, it’s said that Singer is looking at one of the newcomers Ben Hardy (EastEnders), Charlie Rowe (Red Band Society), and Timothee Chalamet (INTERSTELLAR) to take the role. The report says Moretz and Fanning met with Singer about Jean Grey so take that for what it’s worth. It would be a multiple movie deal as well as the characters are said to be returning for more movie fun down the line.

The characters Jean Grey and Cyclops play pretty important roles and having them played perfectly I’d say by Famke Janssen and James Marsden doesn’t make filling their shoes very easy. I’m curious to see which other young faces they plan on casting for other mutants. Singer is also said to be working on casting the role of Apocalypse for the “disaster-level event” movie; that role definitely doesn’t need the young face.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is scheduled to hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
What do you think of the potential casting? Who would you put up for Apocalypse?
