Remember that Jean-Claude Van Damme flick SUDDEN DEATH where JCVD needed to stop terrorist activities against a ticking clock during a Pittsburgh Penguins hockey game? The movie is okay, but the concept was pretty cool, placing all of the action in the arena against such a unique setting.
WWE Studios is going something for something similar with their latest release COUNTDOWN, which stars WWE Superstars Dolph Ziggler and Kane, in addition to Scream Queen Katharine Isabelle. Ziggler plays a defiant cop suffering through his own personal crisis who must power through in order to stop a madman who has rigged a young boy with explosives, and all of this takes place against the backdrop of a wrestling card. Matches are going on, with talent like the Lucha Dragons, the Ascension and the New Day making appearances, and it all looks as insane as the concept would lead you to believe.
COUNTDOWN looks to be right up there in that Van Damme it’s wild territory, even having WWE Superstar Rusev somehow pulling a gun on Ziggler and getting a Superkick to the face for his confrontation.
I must see this, if only to believe a movie like this was really made and I had the opportunity to witness it.I won’t have to wait long with COUNTDOWN arriving on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD on April 5.
