Not sure whether to file this under "What The Absolute F*ck" or "Crazy Enough To Be True" but all the same, today we have a wild-ass rumor that says an offer has been made to DISTURBIA and THE DISAPPOINTMENTS ROOM director D.J. Caruso to helm a Jason Statham-led THE EXPENDABLES spin-off tentatively titled – get this shite – THE EXPENDABLES: A CHRISTMAS STORY.
Yeah…
The report goes on to say that the new film will be penned by Max Adams (EXTRACTION, HEIST) with Statham returning as the lead and Stallone as a supporting character this time around. Plus, it's said that Stallone’s role will be "an emotional one for fans and despite not having many scenes compared to previous installments, his presence will be felt throughout the film." You know what THAT means.
Evidently, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tony Jaa are attached as well and just waiting to see how it comes together. The budget is set in the $70 million dollar range and is looking to shoot in the first half of 2020. Sigh. We'll let you know if we hear anything further. But don't get your hopes up.
Along with Stallone and Statham, THE EXPENDABLES series has featured such stars as Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke, Eric Roberts, Steve Austin, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Liam Hemsworth, Yu Nan, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Harrison Ford, Antonio Banderas, Wesley Snipes, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Glen Powell, Victor Ortiz, Kelsey Grammer, and Mel Gibson.
