Inching ever closer to production is Paramount and Platinum Dunes’ new live-action TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES film. Last we heard, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL writers Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec had come aboard to script the reptilian antics of Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael, but no director had yet to be put in charge… until now.
According to Variety, BATTLE: LOS ANGELES and upcoming WRATH OF THE TITANS helmer Jonathan Liebesman has entered negotiations to direct the heroes in a half-shell. While plot details are pretty much non-existent as this point, word is we’ll be seeing the same shit we saw in the last live-action adaptation: the Foot, April O’Neil, and Casey Jones. No surprises there. The turtles themselves are expected to be created using CGI (presumably with motion capture).
As for Liebesman, the director is currently hard at work putting the finishing touches on the further adventures of Perseus in WRATH OF THE TITANS, which opens March 30th. I’m really looking forward to that one for some reason.
