THE MAN FROM TORONTO has found its replacement for Jason Statham. Woody Harrelson will be replacing Statham in the action-comedy set to co-star Kevin Hart after Statham left the project mere weeks before it was slated to start production.
Statham was all set to star alongside Hart in the film from THE HITMAN'S BODYGUARD director, Patrick Hughes. The actor allegedly walked from the film because he was insisting the film be R-rated and that's not what Sony Pictures was going for since the film was looking to thank advantage of the Thanksgiving holiday at the box office which tends to be more family friendly. Since the deal with the actor wasn't signed on the dotted line, he was able to walk with about 4-6 weeks until cameras were ready to roll.
There was a bit of a scramble to find a replacement but in Woody Harrleson they have someone that is very familiar with the Sony family after appearing in the ZOMBIELAND films and the upcoming Sony/Marvel sequel, VENOM 2. I think Harrelson is a solid choice but still seems a tad off off because Harrelson and Statham aren't exactly in the same wheelhouse so I wonder if any chances had to be made to make this more in line with Harrelson's sensibilities.
THE MAN FROM TORONTO involves a case of mistaken identity after the world’s deadliest assassin, known as the Man from Toronto, now played by. Harrelson, and a New York City screw-up (Hart) run into each other at an Airbnb. A clash of personalities, a clash with deadly killers and of course comedy, ensues as a result. THE MAN FROM TORONTO is slated for a November 20, 2020 release.
Do YOU think Harrelson is a good replacement for Statham?
