It's been announced Woody Allen will write and direct a new half-hour television series for Amazon. Episodes of the "Untitled Woody Allen Project" will be released next year on Amazon's Prime Instant Video service, and the studio has ordered a full season of the show. This will be the first TV project created by Allen, who has directed a new movie every year since 1982.
Amazon Studios vice president Roy Price on landing a television series from Woody Allen:
Woody Allen is a visionary creator who has made some of the greatest films of all-time, and it’s an honor to be working with him on his first television series. From Annie Hall to Blue Jasmine, Woody has been at the creative forefront of American cinema and we couldn’t be more excited to premiere his first TV series exclusively on Prime Instant Video next year.
Allen on his first small screen project:
I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price will regret this.
Woody Allen's film can be hit-or-miss, and I know some people can't stand the director or his movies, but I'm very interested in seeing what he does with a TV show. Are you going to check out Allen's first television series when it hits Amazon next year?
