Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Tuesday night at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills, California, Hollywood celebrated the very best in motion picture marketing for the 18th Annual Golden Trailer Awards! For the event, over 1,000 studio marketing executives, movie fans, celebrities and trailer editors were in attendance for when trophies in 115 different categories were distributed, with 17 of the top honors were handed out before a sold-out crowd. Striking a major win for female directors and female-driven films was Open Road Entertainment and AV Squad’s work for Warner Bros. Wonder Woman trailer titled “What She Is”, which won both the honor for Best in Show as well as Best Fantasy/Adventure Trailer.

The Golden Trailer Awards were launched in 1999 by Evelyn Watters and Monica Brady as a way to recognize the very best in worldwide motion picture and television marketing. Since its inception, the event has become one of the most anticipated award shows of the year by film industry workers and beyond.

In addition to the WONDER WOMAN trailer being recognized for its excellence, Warner Bros. (including HBO and New Line Cinema) was the big winner of the night taking home 26 Golden Trailer Awards overall. FOX (including 20thCentury, Searchlight, FX, and FXX) won a total of 15 statues, while Disney, and Netflix each took home 7, and Universal, Sony (including Screen Gems) and Lionsgate each earned 6. est trailer vendors for 2017 included Mark Woollen & Associates who earned 10 trophies, AV Squad who took home 8, Trailer Park and Concept Arts both won 6 GTA’s, and  Buddha Jones and Create Advertising took home 5 trophies a piece.  Top Creative Agency LA, was awarded 8 Golden Trailer Awards for their trailer and poster campaigns. The film with the most awards was THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE, having earned a total of 5 awards throughout the evening.

Hosting the gig for his second year in a row was actor, comedian, and master of ceremonies Wayne Brady, who enthusiastically welcomed a an impressive list of presenters of which included: Elisabeth Rohm (LAW & ORDER), Pooch Hall (RAY DONOVAN), Chad Stahelski (JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2),  Sugar-Lyn Beard (SAUSAGE PARTY), Tichina Arnold (DAYTIME DIVA'S), and Dania Ramirez (DEVIOUS MAIDS) among others. Celebrity and industry judges participating in this year's ceremony included Jordan Vogt-Roberts (KONG: SKULL ISLAND), Jon Watts (SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING), Kenneth Branagh (DUNKIRK), David Cross (KUNG FU PANDA, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND), Matthew Modine (STRANGER THINGS), Craig Mann (WHIPLASH), Avram Noble Ludwig (SWINGERS), Mark Osbourne (THE LITTLE PRINCE) , Li Bingbing (RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION), Anthony McCarten (THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING), and Chad Stahelski (THE MATRIX), among others.

In speaking about the spirit of the awards show, GTA Founder Evelyn Watters remarked, “Everyone loves trailers! The Golden Trailer Awards celebrates those beloved trailers, the people who make them and the best in motion picture marketing. We recognize the teams that work countless hours to ignite excitement in movie fans all over the world and truly push this art form to the next level. This is an exciting time for our industry!" Then, adding to Evelyn's comments was executive producer Monica Brady who said, “Once again, we had more submissions this year than ever. We love this community of artists and editors and believe it is important to shine a spotlight on their achievements. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!”
