We are living in a Golden Age of superhero movies – not because there are so many of them – but because many of them are actually terrific films. This year saw some of the best-reviewed superhero movies ever hitting the big screen, all the way from LOGAN to THOR: RAGNAROK. Now Rotten Tomatoes has updated their “50 Best Reviewed Superhero Movies,” and it turns out we shan't be bowing to a new king, but a queen.
That’s right, WONDER WOMAN (starring Gal Gadot) has been ranked as the best-reviewed superhero movie of all time on RT with a 92 percent rating. Now, I know you're thinking that movies like IRON MAN and THE DARK KNIGHT have higher scores than that, but RT does this very complicated thing where they factor in an adjusted score that takes into account “variations in the number of reviews per movie.” Lord knows how that works, but in case you were wondering, here are the top 10 with their percent and adjusted score:
WONDER WOMAN – 92% (108.574%)
LOGAN – 93% (107.976%)
THE DARK KNIGHT – 94% (106.233%)
SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING – 92% (105.978%)
THOR: RAGNAROK – 93% (105.63%)
THE AVENGERS – 92% (103.97%)
IRON MAN – 94% (103.912%)
CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR – 90% (103.89%)
THE INCREDIBLES – 97% (103.393%)
THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE – 91% (103.18%)
Now, I don't agree with the listing myself, but it's not really a matter of opinion. Numbers are numbers, and there's no denying the movie connected with a tremendous amount of people. Fans were worried about the movie after previous DCEU movies failed to live up to the hype, but WW from Patty Jenkins won back hearts with her amazing work bringing the Amazonian princess to the big screen. This is but another feather in this movie's cap, as it was recently crowned the highest-grossing superhero origin movie ever made, and I suspect WONDER WOMAN will hold onto both of these crowns for a long while.
WONDER WOMAN is on Blu-ray and digital now.
