As we approach the end of the year, we reach the time when we find ourselves overwhelmed by a legion of top-ten lists from all corners of the internet, some of which we may agree with and others which we may not, but they always make for a good topic of discussion. The American Film Institute have unveiled their annual top-ten lists of the best movies and TV shows of the past year, which includes WONDER WOMAN, DUNKIRK, THE SHAPE OF WATER, and more. "At a time when the world seems defined by division, storytellers bring us together as one," said AFI president and CEO Bob Gazzale. "AFI Awards is honored to celebrate this community of artists who challenge and inspire us, entertain and enlighten us — ultimately reminding us of our common heartbeat."

Ken Burns' documentary series The Vietnam War will also be receiving the AFI Special Award. Honorees will gather on January 5, 2018, at the AFI Awards luncheon, a noncompetitive and intimate event where AFI will reveal the jury rationales for each selection. Let us know what you think of both lists in the comments below as well as which films you think were snubbed, but keep in mind that the AFI's list is restricted to U.S. made films.
