The transition of leadership at DC Films hasn’t been the smoothest, with fans of the former DCEU having to say goodbye to the universe that brought Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman. Affleck seemingly made his final appearance as his incarnation of Bruce Wayne in this past summer’s The Flash, although it remains to be seen if he will be included in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Both Jason Momoa and Shazam‘s Zachary Levi have said that they are not sure what will become of their franchises, but they have not been replaced in the new DC universe as of yet.
After Patty Jenkins’ plans for Wonder Woman 3 were scrapped, it would seem that Gal Gadot’s time as the Amazonian had likely ended. A burn on the wound would sear as Gadot was featured in not one, but two cameos as Diana in Shazam: Fury of the Gods and The Flash. Fans of the franchise will be happy to learn that Gal Gadot spoke with ComicBook.com as she promotes her upcoming Netflix action film, Heart of Stone, and she has revealed that she will be in talks with new DC CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran for reviving the third Wonder Woman film.
While promoting Heart of Stone, the actress, who earlier resurrected a character thought to be dead in Fast X, talked about also bringing Wonder Woman 3 back to life. “I love portraying Wonder Woman. It’s so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together.” It remains to be seen how this will fit in Gunn’s new universe as his Superman: Legacy will be the jumpstart of the new continuity.
With The Flash changing the timeline, it may be possible that Gadot’s Wonder Woman could crossover with the newly announced Superman. She would also comment that she hadn’t yet discovered who landed the Superman and Lois roles, but she was still impressed with who had been screen-tested, “I saw that they were testing, doing different screen tests, but I don’t know who got it, but it seemed like everyone was super legit and talented and, like, great. So I’m happy for them. It’s such a huge take-on and it’s such an exciting beginning to any actor, and I wish whoever it’s going to be the best of luck and enjoy the ride.”
