When WONDER WOMAN 1984 makes its debut on HBO Max on Christmas Day, it's going to look and sound its very best. Director Patty Jenkins took to Twitter to announce that the film will become the first title on HBO Max to be available in 4K Ultra HD, HDR 10, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos.
To assist in this premium viewing experience, the film will be supported on devices that include Apple TV 4K, Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, Amazon Fire TV Cube, and supported Android TV devices. Jenkins also wanted to make it clear that you don't have to subscribe to HBO in order to get HBO Max:
HBO Max will reportedly expand these capabilities to further films and TV series, as well as adding support for additional devices, throughout 2021. If it's true that WarnerMedia also looking to bring GODZILLA VS. KONG to the streaming service rather than a theatrical release, it makes sense that they would want their films to be presented in the best way possible so the theatrical element isn't completely lost.
For those of you that don't want to catch WONDER WOMAN 1984 at home, the film will also be opening in theaters that have decided to reopen on Christmas Day as well. It will be interesting to see which release strategy pays off more in the end but I'd imagine that watching at some will be far more enticing for most consumers.
Will YOU be watching WONDER WOMAN 1984 at home on HBO Max or at YOUR local movie theater if it happens to be open?
