Those of you who watched the Super Bowl, went to the New York Comic Con and are going to WonderCon and are wondering why X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE was missing in action, now you have your reason. Fox just wanted to keep it in-house.
The studio announced today that they’ll be releasing three extended promos for the film over three consecutive nights during Fox’s prime time lineup. The ads, with each one leading into the next, will begin on Sunday during “Family Guy”, continue on Monday during “House” and conclude on Tuesday during “American Idol”. Together they’ll form a three-minute narrative to promote the film, which hits theaters on May 1. On Tuesday after the last installment airs on TV, all three segments will debut on Yahoo! Movies. And to help celebrate, we’re happy to bring you this EXCLUSIVE IMAGE from X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE!!
Fox has been experimenting with this type of advertising for a few months now and put together an effective campaign for TAKEN that ran during the NFL Playoffs and features a running narrative through a number of separate spots. It seemed to work for that movie but those spots ran across commercial breaks not across days.
