The witching hour is creeping up on us and today we have a new promo for the upcoming WGN America series "Salem" to share with you.
Last month we shared the first promo for the upcoming witch-themed show that aims to cast its spell over viewers later this year, and now we have a new promo titled 'Rope' that asks you to witness the hanging of some witchy women…but all is not as it seems.
"Salem" was conjured up from Brannon Braga ("24", "Star Trek: TNG", "Terra Nova") and Adam Simon (THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT), and will go straight to series with 13 episodes. Back in August we learned that "Salem" had tapped Richard Shepard to direct as well as executive produce the series, and in late October learned that Janet Montgomery (WRONG TURN 3) was set to topline.
"Salem" is set in the volatile world of 17th century Massachusetts and explores what really fueled the town's infamous witch trials. The series will look to uncover the dark, supernatural truth hiding behind the veil of this infamous period in American history. The witches featured are real, but they are not who or what they seem. What’s more, the drama, which centers on an epic romance wrapped around this explosive revelation, delivers a bold new vision of Salem — and an even bolder new vision of witches.
Montgomery stars as the ruthless but vulnerable Mary Sibley, Salem’s most powerful enchantress – and Alden’s onetime love interest; Shane West as handsome, hardened war veteran John Alden; Seth Gabel as local aristocrat Cotton Mather who fans the flames of Salem’s witch hunt; Ashley Madekwe as Mary’s mysterious, carnal accomplice; Xander Berkeley as chief politician Magistrate Hale; Tamzin Merchant as the forthright Anne Hale, an artist with a perilous attraction to Alden; and Elise Eberle as the mysteriously afflicted Mercy Lewis. In “Salem,” witches are real, but they are not who or what they seem.
