Having your plane crash into the side of the mountain leaving you stranded alone and bloody in an unforgiving landscape isn’t exactly the worst thing that can happen to you on a United flight, but it’s still horrifying nonetheless. But what if you had to survive the snowy terrain with a total stranger? Could you trust that person to save your life, or would you be paranoid they’re hording the rations? THE MOUNTAINS BETWEEN US will pit Kate Winslet and Idris Elba in that very scenario, forcing the two to rely on each other if they’re going to stay alive. Movies like this always have a marvelous setting to look at, and having two op-notch actors on screen certainly helps sell the movie. MOUNTAINS could be solid date night viewing, when the big movie is sold out and you and your cohort need a neutral option to choose. Elba and Winslet are always reliable, and at least you know the dog survives…until they get hungry…
