Will Star Wars: Episode VII center on the Skywalker-Solo kids?

Once Harrison Ford‘s name entered the casting mix for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, it felt like only a matter of time before these plot theories began to appear online. Since we know that J.J. Abrams will be directing a continuation of the Skywalker story, this seems like the most logical next step to combine the original trilogy with the new.

Showbiz 411 are reporting that they heard “a long time ago” and possibly in a galaxy far, far away, that Ford would be returning alongside Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. Many of us assumed if they returned it would be in a cameo capacity, but these rumors have them right at the forefront of the new trilogy.

It’s some time in the future. Han, Princess Leia (with a presumably better hairstyle), and Luke Skywalker will be a lot older. Their children will be the new main characters. R2-D2 and C-3PO will be unchanged, I would guess. since they are not human. But suffice to say, the three main actors are definitely coming back.

Many comics and novels in the STAR WARS expanded universe have focused on the children of the Skywalker and Solo families. To work properly with the ages of the original actors, that would put these children somewhere in their late teens or early 20s and even that would be stretching credulity. That would leave almost two decades of time that can be mined for further films, but also fits well in the tme jump between REVENGE OF THE SITH to A NEW HOPE where Luke and Leia went from newborns to adults.

Again, this is all conjecture until we hear something official from Disney or Lucasfilm, but I would think they would be screaming for all to hear if all three stars were coming back to the STAR WARS saga. I hope this is true because seeing the icons back in the saddle would be amazing to see.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is still slated to open in 2015.
