The cast of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunited for an HBO MAX special a couple of months ago to celebrate the series' 30th anniversary and now that reunion has a release date and trailer courtesy of the Fresh Prince himself, Will Smith.
Will Smith addressed the show's many fans via his Instagram page with the news that The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion will premiere next week, November 19, 2020, on HBO MAX. The news also came with a trailer that can be viewed at the top of this story that previews the special that brings the Banks family back together 30 years after the sitcom's debut. You can check out Smith's Instagram post below!
The reunion special comes courtesy of HBO Max because the streaming service is the VOD home of all six seasons of the original '90s series. Originally, a Thanksgiving Day release had been speculated for the debut of the reunion special but I'm very happy to hear that we're getting it a bit early. The special will reunite Smith with Alfonso Ribeiro, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Reid, & DJ Jazzy Jeff. Also appearing during the reunion is the original Aunt Viv, Janet Hubert. If you recall, Hubert left the show after season three and was replaced by Daphne Reid amid speculation that Hubert and Smith did not get along. For years after the show's run, Hubert had been very public about her disdain for Smith but when a photo leaked of the two from the reunion special, it appeared that time did indeed heal all wounds and the hatchet had officially been buried.
