Before Will Smith's Deadshot hits theaters in SUICIDE SQUAD next year, he has a different battle to fight in CONCUSSION. This story is that of Nigerion-born neuropahtologist Dr. Bennet Omalu, who was the first doctor to pinpoint a specific type of brain trauma inherent in football players. The film follows his struggle to shed light on the hazards of the game, as well as the lengths some folks in the NFL went to in order to stifle his words. Check out the first trailer for this (literally) hard-hitting drama below.
Will Smith remains one of the most likable personalities in Hollywood, but his cinematic endeavors over the years have certainly waned. While FOCUS was a nice reminder that he could inject some "cool" into the proceedings, CONCUSSION looks to show us that the man can do a lot with solid, dramatic material. It may not be as "in your face" as something like SUICIDE SQUAD, but it feels like it could be a decent film.
CONCUSSION will hit theaters on December 25, 2015.
