You may have noticed Will Smith is doing a little damage control since his last movie AFTER EARTH failed to win over audiences, even calling the film the most painful failure in his career. Luckily he has the R-rated FOCUS opening next weekend with co-star Margot Robbie (THE WOLF OF WALL STREET) and of course SUICIDE SQUAD next year will see him play Deadshot. Now he’s lined up another mature role for the future as Smith will star in and produce the action-thriller BOUNTY.
BOUNTY was purchased by Paramount Pictures as a spec script from Sascha Penn and follows Smith as Boston resident who is convicted of a murder he didn’t commit. Although he manages to escape from prison, the quest to prove his innocence is hindered when the widow of the original victim puts a $10 million bounty of his head. While this sounds like something Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone would be attached to these days (sorry Sly), Smith is known to be particular about the roles he takes on.
The film doesn't have a director yet so there’s still a chance either the film won’t get made or Will Smith will drop out. All we need now is confirmation on BAD BOYS 3 and my Big Willie Style poster goes back on the wall.
Could this scene be his finest moment?
