Will Smith battles Will Smith in a bike fight in new Gemini Man clip

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The first reactions to Ang Lee's GEMINI MAN seem to promise some next level action between Will Smith's Henry Brogan, an elite assassin, and his younger clone, Junior, and Paramount Pictures have released a new action-packed clip from the film which gives us a taste of what these two highly-skilled assassins can do. While some of the visual effects look a little off to my eye, I feel as though that GEMINI MAN is probably best experienced in its intended format: on the big-screen in 3D with a high-frame-rate of 120fps.

Although director Ang Lee believes that this approach gives films a more immersive experience, he knows that it's not for everyone. That said, he's committed to experimenting with the process and believes it to be the future of film-making, provided that directors don't continue treating it like film. "I’ll continue to chase the aesthetic of digital cinema," said Lee. "It has an aesthetic that’s worth grasping. We’ve been imitating film and that’s not right. You can use it as a reference, but it’s a different medium."

The official synopsis for GEMINI MAN:

Gemini Man is an innovative action-thriller starring Will Smith as Henry Brogan, an elite assassin, who is suddenly targeted and pursued by a mysterious young operative that seemingly can predict his every move. The film is directed by Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Ang Lee and produced by renown producers Jerry Bruckheimer, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger. Also starring are Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clive Owen and Benedict Wong.

GEMINI MAN will hit theaters on October 11, 2019.
