Ever since Sony decided to team up with Marvel to reboot the Spider-Man franchise, fans have wondered if the studios have any movie plans for Miles Morales, the Ultimate version of the webslinger. A rumor surfaced that the next Spidey wouldn't be white, but that was debunked once Tom Holland was cast as the new Spider-Man, who will make his debut as the character in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.
COP CAR's Jon Watts has been set to direct the upcoming solo Spider-Man movie, and during an interview with Yahoo! Movies, he was asked if there had been any serious conversations about Morales being the main character.
I can’t talk about that, because, you know, that will reveal too much. We’re still writing the story…we haven’t finished all the way through the story yet, so who knows.
Obviously this doesn't mean he will definitely appear in SPIDER-MAN, especially in costume, but I wouldn't be shocked if he had a cameo appearance in the planned solo film, which could set up a future movie with Morales as the lead. Do you think there is room for two different Spider-Men on the big screen?
CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR will be in theaters on May 6, 2016, while Jon Watts' SPIDER-MAN is scheduled to open on July 28, 2017.
