Will Ferrell hits a cheerleader with a ball in footage from Daddy’s Home

Will Ferrell fans living in New Orleans got a special surprise at the Lakers/Pelicans NBA game recently when the actor showed up to film a scene for the upcoming comedy DADDY'S HOME. The film which will reunite Ferrell with his THE OTHER GUYS co-star Mark Wahlberg shot a scene during halftime of the game and it was all caught on tape.

Funny or Die posted the footage on their site which features Ferrell's character drunkenly attempting a half-court shot in order to win a cash prize. But, instead, he ends up nailing a cheerleader in the face with the basketball. This being rough footage I am not sure it is funny as the finished product, but it looks like some fans thought it was actually happening and not a staged scene.

The website also claims Ferrell has some other sports cameos coming up as well.

  • Snuck into Patriots ball vault and deflated footballs for a scene in Lego Movie 2.
  • If you look closely, Aaron Rodgers’s grimace of shame after the Packers lost to the Seattle Seahawks is actually a hilarious Will Ferrell character for Elf 2.
  • Since volatile U.S. Women’s Soccer goalkeeper Hope Solo was suspended today, maybe she can be replaced by a tall, yelling woman in an obvious wig for Ladybugs 2: Big Ladybugs, which would legit be an amazing movie that someone should make.

Wahlberg did not appear to be at the game for the scene, but if these guys bring the funny the same way they did in THE OTHER GUYS, then DADDY'S HOME is going to be hilarious. The movie does not currently have a release date but expect to see it hit theaters sometime in 2015.
