While SOCIAL NETWORK and MONEYBALL writer Aaron Sorkin felt somehow ill-equipped to take on a Pixar animated film at the behest of Steve Jobs, the A-list Hollywood screenwriter may now end up tackling the late Apple founder instead.
According to LA Times’ 24 Frames, Sony is pushing forward with their Steve Jobs biopic, a film based on the just released Walter Isaacson biography Steve Jobs which the studio recently acquired. 24 Frames says that Sony is after Sorkin to write the film. A kind of obvious choice when you consider not only the writer’s work on the Oscar-winning SOCIAL NETWORK (a Sony film to boot), but that he had also been acquainted with Jobs (he wrote a brief “In Memoriam” for Newsweek upon Jobs’ passing).
Yay? Nay? The story of Steve Jobs is apparently something people really want right now and Sony seems keen on wanting to take advantage of this. Here’s a rundown on Isaacson’s book in case you missed it the last time:
Based on more than forty interviews with Jobs conducted over two years – as well as interviews with more than a hundred family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues – Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing.
