Why do I love movies? Well, that is a loaded question. How much time do you have? I could go into a long-winded diatribe about the art of film-making or the magic of the movies, but all of that has been said countless times before. Not every movie is a masterpiece, but every film has touched me in one way or another. Every other week, we will look at a handful of reasons why movies are so damn great..

CHAPTER IX

I love movies…because of the coin toss in NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN

Because of the first time we see THE LADY IN WHITE

Because of Ron Perlman in HELLBOY

Because of the fact we have a movie where Jason meets Freddy

Because of Willem Dafoe throwing Jeff Goldblum‘s cat out the window in THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL

Because I really believed a man could fly when I saw SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE

Because of Wilford Brimley in EWOKS: BATTLE FOR ENDOR

Because of John Travolta pretending to be Nic Cage in FACE/OFF

Because of Jennifer Lawrence in SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK

Because of how Chance got his name in HARD TARGET

Because of Robin Williams in THE ADVENTURES OF BARON MUNCHAUSEN

Because of the Santa Claus story in GREMLINS

Because of this comeback from IN BRUGES

Because of the trailers for MACHETE and MACHETE KILLS

Because of James Bond going rogue in LICENSE TO KILL

Because of the Medieval Times battle from THE CABLE GUY

Because of Hugh Jackman telling Magneto and Professor X to “F*ck off” in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS
