Who Invited Them: Ryan Hansen, Melissa Tang star in horror comedy

Ryan Hansen may be best known for playing the role of Dick Casablancas on the TV series Veronica Mars, but to me he’ll always be Nolan from Friday the 13th 2009… and that will surely still hold true even after the release of writer/director Duncan Birmingham’s horror comedy Who Invited Them, which just wrapped production in Los Angeles. Hansen stars in the film alongside Melissa Tang (The Kominsky Method), Timothy Granaderos (13 Reasons Why), and Perry Mattfeld (In the Dark).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hansen and Tang take on the roles of

Adam and Margo, whose housewarming party is a success. However, one mysterious couple (Granaderos, Mattfeld) linger long after all the other guests have left. The uninvited couple reveals themselves to be Tom and Sasha, wealthy neighbors. But as a single nightcap leads to another, Adam and Margo start to suspect these new friends are actually duplicitous strangers.

With a set-up like that and Hansen in the lead, it sounds like Who Invited Them could be a lot of fun to watch. The film is being produced by Mary Pat Bentel.

This marks the feature directorial debut for Birmingham, who has previously directed multiple short films. He was also a writer and executive producer on the TV series Maron.

Hansen’s other credits include Party Down, Fantasy Island, Ryan Hansen Solves Crime on Television, Unicorn Store, 2 Broke Girls, CHIPS, Santa Clarita Diet, Portlandia, Bad Santa 2, Central Intelligence, iZombie, Bad Teacher, GI Joe: Retaliation, Friends with Benefits, Gossip Girl… Yeah, he has done a lot of stuff, he’s closing in on 100 different screen credits. But once you’re in a Friday the 13th movie, I’m going to primarily associate you with F13 forever. Some have tried to break away and become famous for other things, but my mind resides at Crystal Lake.

We’ll keep you updated on Who Invited Them as more information is made available.
