At long last, Robert Zemeckis’s live-action animated noir Who Framed Roger Rabbit 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray is coming later this year. Set in a 1947 version of Hollywood where humans and cartoon characters coexist, the film follows a hard-boiled detective tasked with proving the innocence of an exhaustive toon, Roger Rabbit. You see, Roger is wanted for murder, and now there are some in Toon Town that want the rabbit dead. It’s now up to Eddie Valiant (Bob Hoskins) and Roger’s wife, Jessica (Kathleen Turner), to help clear his name and save his tail. The film blends live-action and animation in ways unimagined at the time of its 1988 release. Truth be told, it still looks incredible by today’s standards, and is bound to look even better thanks to a gorgeous 4K presentation.
Special features set to be included as a part of the 4K Ultra HD release include:
Who Frames Roger Rabbit will hop onto 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray later this year on December 7. Personally, I think this is a must-own for anyone serious about having animated classics as a part of their growing collection. I’ll never forget the awe I’d felt after seeing this movie in theaters. It’s still one of the greatest animated films ever made, and although it’s an unpopular opinion, I’m glad they never made a sequel.
