Whitley Strieber’s The Nye Incidents to be made into a TV series

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Alien-obsessed author Whitley Strieber’s 2008 comic book The Nye Incidents will be made into an episodic drama via YRF Entertainment, reports Deadline. Written by Strieber in collaboration with Craig Spector, the graphic novel purported to be “inspired by true events.”

The book’s synopsis:

Lynn Devlin is a medical examiner who thinks she has seen everything Nye County has to throw at her. She copes with methodical, rational logic. But when a grotesque murder of a supposed alien abductee occurs that cannot be solved with her scalpel and microscope, Lynn finds her detachment is shattered, and her dreams haunted by large, dark, oval-shaped eyes. Now, only one thing is certain: There’s a killer loose in the alien abductee community… human or otherwise!

This isn’t the first time The Nye Incidents was scheduled to go before cameras; a few years ago, THE APPARITION helmer Todd Lincoln was on board to helm a feature-length version of the book. Obviously, that fell through, paving the way for the small screen iteration that is (hopefully) on the way.

Intriguing note for those unaware: Strieber has long claimed he was himself abducted by visitors from outer space in in 1985, subsequently writing about it in the 1987 bestseller COMMUNION; his tale, of course, has been the subject of intense scrutiny and doubt throughout the years.
