Whistler Camp: Theo Germaine to star in John Logan, Blumhouse horror film

Earlier this year, it was announced that John Logan – who has created the television series Penny Dreadful, won a Tony for his play Red, wrote the book for the musical Moulin Rouge, gotten to write two James Bond films (Skyfall and Spectre), and earned Academy Award nominations for his screenwriting work on Gladiator, The Aviator, and Hugo – was teaming up with Blumhouse to make his feature directorial debut on a horror project called Whistler Camp. Well, it’s now a project formerly known as Whistler Camp, but even without a title it has found its lead: Theo Germaine has signed on to star in the film.

A gender nonbinary actor who uses they/them and he/him pronouns, Germaine is best known for playing the role of James Sullivan on the Ryan Murphy Netflix series The Politician.

Details on the role Germaine will be playing in the Logan / Blumhouse project weren’t revealed, and story details are also being kept under wraps. We just know this is being described as

an LGBTQIA+ empowerment story set at a gay conversion camp.

The project formerly known as Whistler Camp is being produced by Jason Blum and Michael Aguilar, and Ryan Turek is the creative executive overseeing the film for Blumhouse.

I have never seen Germaine act in anything, but the way they took to their Twitter account to celebrate their involvement with this horror project has made me a fan. Germaine tweeted,

I’ve dreamed of getting to work in this genre since I was a kid. This is for 12-year-old me, who was obsessed with horror films, and was the only kid in my school who read Fangoria. This is also for my late uncle, who collected Friday the 13th merch and also loved horror.

For the record adult me is still pretty obsessed with the horror genre.
