Now that even bubblegum wrappers are being optioned to get the feature treatment, it should be come as no surprise that the popular children’s book series “Where’s Waldo?” has been optioned by Universal. Believe it or not, the project has been in the works for quite some time now with Paramount and Nickelodeon looking to get into production under director John Schultz from a script by Adam Rifkin, Adam Cooper and Bill Collage, who had worked on it at different stages of development. At the time the plot revolved around a thirty-year old Waldo accidentally activating a time machine and traveling through time. It’s assumed the plot will be either revised and updated or just completely changed before going into production. Actually, this project probably stands a better chance to get into production and not rot in development hell (where it rightfully should) than most others.
