Wheel of Time movie adaptation to be penned by Thor scribe

There's been some movement on Age of Legends, the first of three films based on Robert Jordan's epic Wheel of Time series. It's been reported that Zack Stentz, the co-writer of Thor and X-Men: First Class, will pen the script for the first film. Stentz is a self-described fanboy of Jordan's work and could not be more thrilled about lending his talents to the highly-anticipated project.

“I’ve been a fan of Robert Jordan’s work for many years, and it is especially his allusions to the origins and backstory of The Wheel of Time that I have always found most intriguing. I’m excited to be bringing this era Robert Jordan conceptualized to life,” said Stentz in a statement.

Per THRAge of Legends will be set several millennia before the time of the books and in a futuristic utopia powered by a magical force shared by men and women known as the One Power. When an unspeakable evil is unleashed upon the world and men using the One Power become insane and destroy much of the planet, a small band of women unite under the White Tower and are humanity’s last hope of survival.

While no studio partner or distributor has been assigned to Age of Legends just yet, it's been said that the film will complement the upcoming Wheel of Time TV series currently in production from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios. It was announced back in 2019 that Amazon's Wheel of Time series will star Rosamund Pike as Moiraine.

Age of Legends will be produced by Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon of iwot productions and Ted Field and Justin Smith of Radar Pictures.

Little else is known about the film at this time. However, now that a writer has been assigned, you can expect things to start heating up.
