Whedon tells Entertainment Weekly that the producers approached his agent after the news broke but that he told them, “I think that’s something better left untouched by me.” In other words, “I spent a lot of time and effort trying to rebuild the universe after the disaster you turned my original script into. Why would I want to help you tear that universe down?” Whedon adds that he politely wished them well and went on his merry way (and by “merry,” I mean really pissed off that this reboot could even happen).
Throughout all of this, let’s hope the producers get it through their heads that a BUFFY reboot would just be a bad idea. Unless they get JJ Abrams to direct. People love that guy.
