What We Do In The Shadows TV series reboot gets FX pilot order, sets cast

"When you are a vampire you become very… , sexy!"

– Deacon

Sharpen your fangs and steam-clean your Victorian Sunday best, because FX is partnering with Taika Waititi for a televised reboot of WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS. Presented as a half-hour comedy based on the 2014 mockumentary horror film co-written, co-directed and starring Waititi and Jemaine Clement, the revamped version of the posh vampire coven chronicles will find Clement attached as a writer and executive producer with Waititi on-board to direct and executive produce. Scott Rudin, Paul Simms, Garrett Basch and Eli Bush will serve as executive producers for the pilot.

In the pilot, Kayvan Novak will play Nandor, the head vampire of the house. Matt Berry will appear as Lazslo, the coven's zaniest member. You know, the kind of vampire who turns into a bat and then immediately flies into a wall? Yeah, that guy. Meanwhile, Natasia Demetriou will play Nadja, a badass female vampire. Lastly, Harvey Guillen is apparently playing Nandor's personal assistant.

In the 2014 mockumentary, Waititi introduced the world to a group of vampires who live as flatmates in Wellington, New Zealand. Together, Viago, Deacon, and Vladislav do their best to navigate the modern world while still clinging to old ways. At the time of its release, the film earned $6.9 million on a $1.6 million budget, and then went on to become a cult hit among connoisseurs of quirky indie comedies.

We'll be sure to bring you more details on the WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS TV series as they happen. In the meantime, remember, werewolves, not swearwolves.
