With almost twenty-five Bond movies having graced cinemas for the last fifty years, everyone is going to have a favorite 007 movie. For me, it is hard to pick a single favorite. I would have to go top five. Even then, I am sure my picks would be different than everyone else, but we would all agree on which titles should be ranked at the top.
Bond fansite MI-6 HQ decided to hold a survey and find out what every Bond fan would rank as their top five in order to crown a true number one favorite. They received over 15,000 responses and weighed the results to find which movie is the best Bond of all.
#1 CASINO ROYALE
#2 GOLDFINGER
#3 FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE
#4 ON HER MAJESTY”S SECRET SERVICE
#5 GOLDENEYE
I agree with these being five of the best Bond movies, but was shocked to see CASINO ROYALE come in at number one. I mean, it is the best Daniel Craig Bond movie (at least until SKYFALL), but the best of all time? Most voters would have to be younglings who voted on what was most fresh in their memories. Notice there are no Timothy Dalton or Roger Moore movies in the top five? Not shocking to me, but may be to Moore aficionados.

According to MI-6 magazine editor Hugh Maddocks: “The result may surprise some people, but the sheer sample size of the vote means this cannot be explained away as an anomaly or rounding error. When you consider how the demographic of Bond fans has shifted over the years, it’s time for a reassessment of how the series stacks up.”
A very interesting survey, indeed. And here is a cool infographic breaking down the influence the Bond franchise has had for the past half century. Click for a larger version.
