We haven't seen the legendary King Kong onscreen since Peter Jackson took a swing at the classic tale in 2005's epic KING KONG, which seemed to kind of close the book on the need to redo that story again (for at least another couple decades, anyway). However, you can't keep a good Kong down and now he's back on the big screen with Jordan Vogt-Roberts KONG: SKULL ISLAND, which serves as both a kind of origin story and franchise reboot that will, contingent on box office, launch us into more monster mayhem films of this ilk with an eventual Godzilla team-up/battle in the works. Starring Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John C. Reilly, John Goodman, Corey Hawkins, Toby Kebbell, Shea Whigham, and Jason Mitchell, the film is packed with a solid cast and from the looks of the marketing it has some bang-up effects to trumpet as well.
The reviews have been exceedingly positive for the film, which currently sits at a certified 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. Our own review from Chris Bumbray was also positive (although with some misgivings), who gave it a 7/10, saying, "Some clunky exposition and the aforementioned self-consciously cool bits aside, this is a blast."

You can POST YOUR OWN REVIEW of the film in the below strikebacks or on your own Movie Fan Central profile, if you so desire. Naturally, we'd prefer you to comment only if you've seen the film as that's the point here, but do what feels good. Just don't get mad if you get trounced for trolling or posting blatant spoilers in headlines. Healthy debate, genuine thoughts, and respectful interactions is all we ask. So, let's hear it: Was this a Skull Island you'd want to revisit or one to avoid at all costs?
