I love the PLANET OF THE APES franchise. It's all gold in my book, everything from the original PLANET OF THE APES movie right up to WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES, the climatic conclusion to the reboot series; hell, I've even got a soft spot for Tim Burton's remake and the Planet of the Apes TV show, so I'm more than ready for a return to the series.
Late last year, it was reported that THE MAZE RUNNER director Wes Ball would be taking the helm of a new PLANET OF THE APES film, and just days ago, certain outlets reported that the project would be a full-on reboot, with no relation or continuity to most recent series which starred Andy Serkis as Caesar, the leader of the ape community. Director Wes Ball took to Twitter the other day to clear the matter up and assure fans that Caesar's legacy will continue in the new film.
It’s never been easier for film journalists to actually get in touch with the actual people who actually know… but maybe it’s the point to NOT fact-check these days?
Regardless. Don’t worry. I won’t ruin the surprises, but it’s safe to say Caesar’s legacy will continue…????

It's still too early to guess just what sort of story Wes Ball's PLANET OF THE APES will tell, but it is nice to know that it won't be ignoring the recent films. If I had to guess, I would imagine that the film might jump forward to the time-frame of the original PLANET OF THE APES film, with the apes having developed into a more technologically advanced society.
