Prison Break, Wentworth Miller, done

If you were still holding out hope for a sixth season of Prison Break, you might be saddened to know that Wentworth Miller has put any hope of that to bed. Miller, who played Michael Scofield in all five seasons of the series, recently took to Instagram to say that he is officially done with the series as he doesn't want to play straight characters anymore.

"I'm out of PB. Officially," wrote Miller. "I just don't want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told (and told). So. No more Michael. If you were a fan of the show, hoping for additional seasons… I understand this is disappointing. I'm sorry." Although 2017's Prison Break event series didn't exactly impress in the ratings department, Fox did confirm that they were in the early stages of developing a sixth season in 2018, only to reverse course the following year by saying they had no plans to revive the series, which likely had something to do with their impending acquisition by Disney. Dominic Purcell, who played Michael's brother Lincoln on Prison Break, commented on Miller's post to voice his support.

It was fun mate. What a ride it was. Fully support and understand your reasoning. Glad you have made this decision for you health and your truth. Keep the posts coming. …. love ya brother

Sarah Wayne Callies, who played Michael's love interest Sara Tancredi, also voiced her support in her own Instagram post. "With gratitude for all the work we did together, & with deep love, i’m voicing my support for that choice," wrote Callies. "To all the fans, know this: the cast of prison break is a queer friendly space. we stand with – and among – our friends & family in the LGBTQ+ community with full throated support for their rights and artistic work. all the time. always." Although this doesn't exactly spell the end of Prison Break completely, it does count Michael Scofield out of any future iterations of the franchise. I suppose the next step is up to Disney.
